As German Ambassador to Việt Nam Helga Margarete Barth writes in the book, ties between the two countries show that differences need not be an obstacle but can instead serve as a driving force. Germany and Việt Nam, she adds, share a determination to rise from the rubble to build prosperity.From a political-economic perspective, Stoffers affirms that Việt Nam has become Germany’s “strategic anchor” in Southeast Asia. Exports rose by an average of 10.8 per cent&nbsp;annually, more than double the target. In 2025, total trade turnover was estimated at US$920 billion, placing Vietnam among the world’s top 15 trading nations, with a trade surplus of around $22 billion.Industrial production recovered robustly, with the index of industrial production (IIP) estimated to increase by 9.5 per cent.
